The FCA has revoked the authorisations of Manchester-based claims management firm Barclay Blackthorn Legal Services Ltd (FRN: 836619) because it said it considers that the firm is carrying on no regulated activity.
The regulator decided to cancel the Firm’s Part 4A permission on 20 August.
Barclay Blackthorn was authorised by the FCA on 14 January 2020 to carry out regulated activities in relation to claims management.
It was given permission to seek out and identify claims or potential claims relating to personal injuries; financial services or financial product claims; housing disrepair claims; claims for a specified benefit; criminal injury claims; and employment related claims.
The FCA Register reveals that the firm traded under the name Lloyd Square between 1 April 2019 and 5 October 2022.
It also traded under the name KPK Marketing between 2 January 2020 and 20 October 2020.
It had also been trading under the name LSQ Claims since 22 July 2019 until the time of its cancellation. It also began trading under the name KPK Marketing again on 1 April 2021 until its permissions were cancelled.
The only person reported to be connected to the firm was Kiran Kanji, who was listed as having a “Limited scope function” from 14 January 2020 to 20 August 2025
The firm failed to pay periodic fees and levies owed to the FCA. Specifically the firm failed to pay an invoice dated 7 July 2022 for periodic fees and levies of £1,426.40 which had been due for payment by 6 August 2022.
The FCA informed the firm on 20 June that it intended to take action to cancel the firm’s Part 4A permission unless it responded. It failed to respond to the notice. It also failed to respond to a further notice published on 9 July.
On 20 August the FCA cancelled the firm’s permissions. It said: “The effect of the cancellation is that the firm no longer has permission to carry on any regulated activities.”
If the firm wants to apply for an annulment of the FCA’s decision it must submit a completed application to the regulator by 19 August 2026, the FCA said.
