PIMFA, the trade body formed by a merger of APFA and the Wealth Management Association, is to relaunch the popular annual Financial Adviser dinners organised by APFA.

The first PIMFA-branded event will be held next Tuesday 4 September in the prestigious Middle Temple in central London and is aimed at Financial Advisers and Financial Planners.

APFA merged in June of last year to become the Personal Investment Management and Financial Advice Association (PIMFA).

The Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) was one of the leading representative bodies for the financial adviser profession and was formed in 1999 as the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA).

Following the Retail Distribution Review (RDR), the association changed its name in November 2012 to APFA (Association of Professional Financial Advisers), and represented independent or restricted financial advisers and networks of advisers.

At the time of the merger membership included approximately 14,000 adviser firms employing 81,000 people.

The black-tie summer event will provide an opportunity for PIMFA members and stakeholders such as regulators, politicians and the media to share their views on the issues affecting the  sector while enjoying some fine dining, as well as being entertained and informed by this years’ keynote speaker, Sir Steve Webb, former Pensions Minister.

Sir Steve, one of the first MPs to have a blog and a website while he represented the constituency of Northavon, became the longest-serving Minister of State for Pensions between 2010-2015 and is now the director of policy and external communications for Royal London.
