Launched in 2007, it has centres in London and Manchester, with candidates from various backgrounds ranging from the armed forces to marketing professions.

Guests will hear from academy graduates on Thursday 20 August about their experiences in being a wealth manager and undergoing the training programme.

They will also learn more about the support for individuals in making the transition from employed to self-employed and the running of a successful financial services business.

Chris Jones, senior academy manager in Manchester, said: “The academy provides individuals with an unrivalled opportunity to pursue a career in financial services. “The training programme offers structured guidance and skills on building a wealth management business, all with the support of the corporate structure at St. James’s Place Wealth Management.”

He said that successful applicants undertake an “intensive education, coaching and assessment programme equipping them with the ability to provide a professional, expert face to face wealth management service to their clients, and begin running their own business”.

A new branch of the academy for aspiring based in the Midlands will launch in September.

The trainee programme is being expanded to Solihull. The move is designed to attract candidates from the Midlands, south west and south Wales. The first intake at the new location will begin in September 2015.

"The academy provides opportunities for candidates to take control of their working lives and to be supported in a new career in wealth management.”

After two years, successful trainees graduate from the academy into the St. James's Place Partnership.
