The 2024 survey will be sent to a sample of regulated firms.

The survey will be carried out for the FCA by Verian (formerly Kantar Public), an independent social research organisation.

The annual survey will see an increased sample of 25,000 firms covered this year - about half of all regulated firms.

The FCA is encouraging invited firms to take part and says this year’s survey is shorter than previous years to make it easier to respond.

The regulator says the survey will enable it to to better understand issues affecting firms and to assess any changes it should make in its approach as part of its strategy to become “a more innovative, assertive and adaptive regulator.”

The survey is one of the sources of feedback used by the FCA to evaluate its performance against key areas of its 3-year Strategy. The results will be presented to the Practitioner Panel and the board and published in summer 2024.

Following last year’s survey feedback the FCA said it had:

• Improved its authorisations performance and processing times for firms

• Introduced a new Cost Benefit Analysis Panel in 2024 to provide advice on cost/benefit analysis and ensuring it acts proportionately when introducing new policies

• Ensured more opportunities during 2024 for the fintech and regtech sector to be supported

• Analysed feedback on data requests from firms, including how long they take to complete and any associated costs incurred
