40,000 clients - founder on how advice firm grew big
The chief executive of a national financial adviser group has spoken about how he has built a company with 40,000 clients, having started from humble beginnings in 2000.
Jack McVitie, chief executive at LEBC, began the business in May 2000 with three offices and seven advisers on day one. It now has many offices in major cities across the UK.
Originally, he got into Financial Planning when he was recruited as a graduate trainee IFA in 1986 and he said this was the only job he has ever done.
Mr McVitie was speaking to Financial Planning Today magazine or the Inside My Business feature.

The firm plans to turn over in excess of £16 million this year and it has big ambitions.
Mr McVitie said: “We see no limit to our expansion in the UK and are also looking at expansion into other territories.”
He has been working lately on exploring setting up the firm in Canada.
LEBC has about 90 advisers and more than 20 Paraplanners with another 90 support staff.
Asked about the key lessons he has learned at his current business so far, he said: “Believe in your business and celebrate your successes; find some humour in your failures. Swim against the tide and never be afraid to go the other way.”
LEBC seeks to provide top quality financial advice to employers, their employees and to individual clients, he said.
