Aberdeen Adviser CEO Noel Butwell is to step down from his role and will be leaving Aberdeen in the coming months.
The firm said Mr Butwell will continue to lead the business until a successor is found, “ensuring continuity and a smooth transition until the handover is complete.”
Mr Butwell joined the business in 2003 as a UK distribution director when it was known as Standard Life plc.
He then took on a variety of roles before becoming CEO of the company’s UK savings business Adviser when it was established as a separate business unit in 2019.
He was also chairman of the firm’s Financial Planning business between 2019 and 2022 when it was known as Abrdn (sic) Financial Planning.
Mr Butwell has worked in financial services for more than 30 years and became a non-executive director at Interactive Investor in October 2022.
He said: “I was involved when we first launched our Wrap platform 20 years ago. Over that time, consumer needs and expectations have evolved rapidly, the IFA market is consolidating, and we continue to experience a profound shift in technology as it plays an ever-bigger part in what we do.
“Having spent more than two decades helping the business grow and adapt for the next generation, I have decided now is the right time for me to move on.”
He gave no indication of what his next plans might be.
Jason Windsor, Aberdeen Group chief executive, said: “With his career at Aberdeen spanning more than twenty years, Noel has been part of the fabric of our business. His warmth, leadership, passion for serving our clients, and care and support for his colleagues, are all part of what has been a fantastic contribution.”
Aberdeen said the process to appoint a successor as CEO of Aberdeen Adviser, “is advanced and we will provide an update shortly.”
