Expanding Financial Planner and wealth manager Atomos is to acquire substantial Financial Planning business MWA Financial.
Private equity-owned Atomos calls the deal, "a strategic transaction that brings together two aligned businesses."
The aim of the deal is to build one of the UK’s "leading and most progressive Financial Planning" firms, says Atomos.
MWA manages about £1bn in assets and is registered in Herts with main offices in Hampshire. It had about 40 staff as at March this year.
Cam Banks, founder and CEO of MWA, said: “We are delighted to be joining Atomos at such an exciting stage of its journey. The opportunity to work alongside Jonathan Polin, Niral Parekh and the wider team was a major attraction for us.
“Atomos has a clear ambition to build one of the UK's leading Financial Planning businesses, combining high-quality advice, strong client outcomes and the scale to invest in the future. I'm looking forward to playing my part in delivering that vision."
Jonathan Polin, CEO of Atomos, said: “MWA has built an exceptional business with a strong culture, outstanding people, and a clear commitment to delivering high-quality Financial Planning. From our first conversations, it was clear that we shared a common vision for the future of advice and what a modern planning business should look like.”
In a statement, Atomos said both firms share a belief in holistic advice, long-term stewardship of client wealth and the importance of investing in people, technology, and innovation to meet the evolving needs of clients.
Ed Rosengarten, executive chairman of MWA, said: “We are grateful for the funding partners who have supported us on our journey and are excited about this next chapter with Atomos and the opportunities it presents to our staff and clients.
"We believe this is an important step that will allow us to offer clients even greater support, enhanced investment expertise and access to additional resources, while continuing to provide personal service and trusted advice. We are confident that this partnership will support our continued growth and are excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Federico Alverez-Demalde, European Group principal of private equity firm Oaktree, the majority owner of Atomos, said: “We are delighted that MWA has decided to join Atomos on its journey and I would like to thank the executive team at MWA for their contribution to ensuring these two excellent organisations become one.”
Atomos was advised by Fenchurch Advisory Partners and CMS Legal.
