Cardano hires fund heavyweight to boost pensions team
Cardano, the investment and risk specialist, has recruited Cédric Bucher, former head of Architas UK funds, as the new co-head of its DC business.
Mr Bucher will work alongside co-head Ralph Frank and will focus on the commercial development of Cardano’s Defined Contribution business.
He was previously head of Architas UK funds and has also held senior roles at other investment firms and wealth management firms such as SEI Investments and Barclays Wealth. He started his new role in September and is based in London.
Cardano says its DC business aims to bring Cardano’s philosophy of “stable and predictable outcomes” to DC clients. Last month, the firm announced that it had been appointed by NEST to offer general investment advice and support with fund manager search and selection exercises.
Michaël De Lathauwer, co-CEO of Cardano Group, said: "Cédric has an excellent track-record of building new propositions and growing businesses, making him an ideal fit for our next stage of development in DC. He joins an experienced team with a clear focus and vision about what DC clients need, and his experience, insight and drive will be crucial in helping us deliver.”
Mr Bucher, said: "The DC market has grown rapidly in recent years, driven by auto-enrolment and the closure of many final salary schemes. This has led to an increasing and urgent demand for innovative approaches to investment and risk management in the DC market that offer savers predictability about what they can expect to receive in retirement.
“The Cardano approach is founded on a philosophy of generating stable and consistent outcomes and I look forward to bringing this approach to the DC market.”
