CISI Financial Planning head Edgar to become consultant

CISI head of Financial Planning Campbell Edgar CFPTM Chartered FCSI is to become an industry training consultant after stepping shortly from the CISI.
Mr Edgar, a former President of the Institute of Financial Planning which merged with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment in 2015, announced his intention to retire this year from the CISI. One of his last official engagements will be to host the annual CISI / IFP Annual Conference taking place in Wales later this month.
However, Mr Edgar says that rather than fully retire he plans to set up a training consultancy offering his knowledge and experience to Financial Planning firms as a consultant, focusing particularly on professional qualifications and development.
In an article for the next Financial Planning Today magazine being published this week he said: “Rumours of my total retirement have been overstated.
“A key requirement of the changing integrated Financial Planning scene is the ongoing growth of professional, internationally-recognised, qualifications, particularly the Certified Financial Planner accreditation.
“In order to help more Financial Planners attain this august designation, I will be setting up a training consultancy, working alongside the Institute, to offer training and mentoring services to individuals and firms who recognise the benefits.
“There’s a common experience recognised by most CFPTM practitioners on their journey to integrated Financial Planning, which is a “light-bulb” moment, a moment of change when they recognise the subtle but profound difference between product-oriented, transactional financial advice and integrated Financial Planning.
"My mission is to help many more planners experience their own “light-bulb” moment, and then assist them in their endeavours to attain the Certified Financial Planner accreditation, by providing appropriate direct and train-the-trainer courses to planners and wealth managers.”
