CISI urges members to back first World Financial Planning Day
The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment is urging members to get behind the first ever World Financial Planning Day to be held on Wednesday 4 October.
The 2,700 members of the CISI Financial Planning Forum are being encouraged to throw their weight behind the campaign which will see Financial Planning promoted around the world in dozens of countries.
The CISI is asking members to support the event on 4 October by:
• Sharing articles and blogs: CFP professionals will serve as subject-matter experts on financial topics in various media publications.
• Showing their support for the campaign by sharing Financial Planning tips and best practice on social media using the hashtag #WFD17.
Jacqueline Lockie CFP Chartered FCSI, CISI UK deputy head of Financial Planning said: “We are extremely pleased to be supporting this important initiative which aims to highlight for consumers globally the life-enhancing benefits which true Financial Planning can offer.
“This initiative means that on 4 October Financial Planning professionals around the world will be united in shining a spotlight on the profession, showing that #lifesbetter with a financial plan.”
World Financial Planning Day will be taking place during the International Organisation of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) World Investor Week (#WIW2017).
IOSCO’s World Investor Week is a global campaign from 2-8 October designed to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection, and to highlight the investor education and protection initiatives of securities regulators around the world.
Paul Andrews, IOSCO secretary general, said: “IOSCO recognises that the need for investor education and protection has never been greater, and we are pleased that FPSB has rallied the global Financial Planning community to support World Investor Week.”
FPSB chief executive CEO Noel Maye said: “FPSB has launched World Financial Planning Day to increase consumers’ level of financial literacy and capability and to help consumers understand the value of Financial Planning and making investment choices within the context of financial and life goals.”
During World Financial Planning Day, FPSB and its network of member organisations representing over 170,000 Certified Financial Planner professionals will promote consumer awareness and understanding of Financial Planning topics including debt management, preparing for a financial emergency, home ownership, savings, investment planning and preparing for retirement.
