The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), the professional body for Certified Financial Planners, is urging all UK Financial Planners to give at least an hour of their time to support Financial Planning Week 2027.
The CISI’s annual Financial Planning Week will run from 25 -31 January 2027 and is a nationwide consumer-focused campaign to spread awareness of the benefits of Financial Planning to the country.
It believes that by donating one hour of their time, Planners can help spread the word about Financial Planning to millions more savers.
The campaign message this year will be: “One Hour. One Action. A Lasting Difference.”
The CISI says it is encouraging more planners and firms to share their expertise, raise awareness of the benefits of Financial Planning and help people feel "more confident" about their financial futures.
The campaign aims to reach all people, not just the wealthy or those approaching retirement.
CISI is encouraging Financial Planners to choose an activity that suits their skills, interests and availability.
It says this could include:
- Offer a free introductory Financial Planning appointment.
- Delivering a financial literacy session at a school, college or community organisation.
- Sharing practical financial wellbeing resources, tips or educational videos.
- Helping people understand the role of a qualified Financial Planner.
- Organising a team activity to reach more people in their local community.
The CISI will also run its consumer-focused Wayfinder website during the campaign offering tips and guidance: financialplanning.cisi.org
Carly Dunningham CFP MCSI, chair of the CISI Financial Planning Forum committee, said: “Financial Planners have knowledge and expertise that can make a real difference to people's lives. CISI Financial Planning Week is an opportunity to share that expertise beyond our usual client relationships and help more people understand the choices available to them.
“We are asking planners to start with one simple question: what could I do with one hour to help someone feel more confident about their financial future?
“It might be a conversation, a session with young people or a practical resource shared with a local community. Whatever the activity, we want more planners to get involved and demonstrate what our profession can contribute. Together, we can make Financial Planning more accessible to more people across the UK.”
Chris Morris Chartered MCSI, CISI head of Financial Planning, Policy and Engagement, said: “We encourage planners to share their stories, activities and experiences across social media using #FPWUK, helping to inspire colleagues and demonstrate the collective contribution of the profession. Financial confidence can make a real difference to the choices people feel able to make, both today and in the years ahead.”
A campaign toolkit will be provided with ready-to-use communications materials, educational resources and practical guidance to make participation straightforward.
