Ex-Voyant veteran Freeman backs fintech start-up
Industry veteran Bob Freeman, the former chief operating officer and launch director of cashflow modeller Voyant in the UK, is to invest in a fintech which aims to give accountants more ability to offer Financial Planning services.
Mr Freeman retired from the industry following the £104m sale last year of Voyant to US wealth management fintech AssetMark Financial Holdings.
Voyant provides Financial Planning and client digital engagement tools to 20,000 advisers and companies in the UK, Canada, Ireland and the US.
Mr Freeman has become an investor in private client and Financial Planning software provider All in Place which aims to give accountants greater ability to offer Financial Planning services by linking personal and business finances.
All in Place is an online platform connecting business and personal Financial Planning. Mr Freeman, a financial services industry veteran who also worked for many years at Morningstar, has joined the firm as a “significant investor” and adviser. He has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services and started his career as an IFA.
All in Place recently rebranded from Tether. It enables accountants and advisers to integrate clients' business and personal financial plans by creating detailed cashflow analysis and opportunity assessments. It was launched in 2021 and is currently testing its systems prior to a full commercial launch.
The firm believes that post pandemic accountants will take a bigger role in Financial Planning. It believes accountants will move “beyond remuneration and tax planning.”
Richard Bertin is All in Place's founder and CEO. He is a Chartered Accountant and current ICAEW Personal Financial Planning Advisory Group member. He established and built a fee-based wealth planning business, selling the business in 2016 to Stonehage Fleming, an independent family office.
He said: “We are delighted that Bob has joined All in Place as a significant investor at this pivotal time in our future. He has invaluable industry experience, most notably launching and growing Voyant to become the most eminent cashflow planning business for financial advisers in the UK. Bob will add important strategic and practical advice as we look to extend the service of accountants in the arena of personal cashflow planning for business owners.”
Mr Freeman said: “I am very excited about joining All in Place, both as an investor and adviser. Richard leads a team with vast experience of the financial services and accountancy space and has a proposition that meets the advisory needs of the accountant, but more importantly the demands of the SME owner. I look forward to adding value to the offering.”
