FCA to run Consumer Duty 'one year on' livestreaming event
The FCA is to hold a livestreaming webinar event on 31 July to mark the one year anniversary of the Consumer Duty.
The webinar will review progress on the Duty and participants will be able to submit questions before and during the event.
The Consumer Duty was launched on 31 July 2023 for new products and services and introduced a requirement for regulated firms to treat customers fairly at “all stages of the customer journey.”
The Duty will be extended to closed products from 31 July this year.
The FCA says the Duty has set “a higher standard of consumer protection in financial services.”
The seminar will focus on:
- The impact the Duty has had in its first year
- Examples of good practice and areas for improvement
- FCA’s priorities for the year ahead
Speakers will include:
- Sheldon Mills, executive director, consumers and competition, FCA
- Graeme Reynolds, director of competition, FCA
- Abby Thomas, chief executive and chief ombudsman, Financial Ombudsman Service
Participants can submit questions when they register. The FCA plans to use the questions to shape the panel discussion, it said. Questions can also be submitted during the event.
The FCA says the livestreamed event should be of interest to all regulated firms and compliance consultants.
• Registration for the event is required.
