Former Pensions Minister Guy Opperman has joined the board of pension tracing fintech Raindrop as a non-executive director.
Mr Opperman was the UK’s longest serving Pensions Minister and played a role in boosting transparency in pensions, developing master trusts and expanding auto enrolment. He held the role from June 2017 to July 2022.
He was also Financial Inclusion Minister and championed technology disruptors which allowed consumers to improve their finances.
Raindrop is a pension-finding platform and currently partners with AJ Bell, Monzo and Mylo from Aegon.
Mr Opperman said that Raindrop was set to be the ‘next British tech success story’.
He said: “I look forward to supporting Raindrop’s continued strong growth. I have been really impressed with the work of the founders who have built an innovative platform that delivers real impact to both UK savers as well as pension providers.
"As Raindrop continues to transform individual people’s finances, it will also prove to be the vital add-on to the UK master trusts and other wealth providers who operate in this space. A private sector solution like Raindrop will be further enhanced by the eventual arrival of the Pensions Dashboard in the UK, whenever that will be.”
Vivan Shridharani, co-founder at Raindrop, said Mr Opperman will play a key role in expanding across the UK pensions and wealth market.
Since launch, Raindrop has recovered over £1.6bn from over 172,000 lost pension pots for UK savers. In 2026 it has so far found over 62,000 lost of forgotten pots for savers.
