Former Pensions Minister Guy Opperman has join pension admin firm Aptia as a strategic adviser.
Mr Opperman, a well regarded Pensions Minister, was one of the longest serving Pensions and Inclusion Ministers.
Aptia provides pension administration, consultancy and actuarial services.
The company says that Mr Opperman, who served as MP for Hexham until 2024, will support Aptia’s growth plans in administration and consulting.
He will mainly support Aptia’s focus on its proposition and ambitions to be at the forefront of Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) pensions as they develop.
Mr Opperman served as Pensions and Financial Inclusion Minister for five years between 2017-2022. He was responsible for the expansion of auto enrolment and master trusts, and pioneering CDC pensions, as well as other reforms to the UK Pensions and Retirement systems, Aptia said. He also spearheaded the introduction of the Pensions Schemes Bill which led to the introduction of Pensions Dashboards.
Mr Opperman has also held roles in the Home Office, Treasury, and Transport departments.
