Frenkel Topping acquires 2 law firms
Financial adviser Frenkel Topping has acquired two specialist clinical injury law firms for a total of £9m only a few months after revealing it was shifting its strategy away from acquiring adviser firms.
The firm announced this week it has acquired A & M Bacon and Partners in Costs (PIC).
A & M Bacon is a firm of civil and commercial litigation costs specialists and PIC is one of the UK’s leading costs law specialists.
Frenkel, which specialises in financial advice to personal injury and clinical negligence litigation clients, says the deals are in line with the company's strategy to pursue opportunities in the professional services marketplace.
Frenkel will offer services to claimants of the two companies including advice on welfare benefits assessments, trust advice and expert witness services. The firm will also offer to manage the damages within the group’s discretionary asset management business.
PIC has an office in Doncaster and fee earners nationwide. It has 52 staff and specialises in civil litigation claims, professional negligence, commercial claims and court of protection costs. In the year ended April 2020, it had revenues of £3.64m.
A & M Bacon is also based in Doncaster and has 12 staff. It deals with commercial litigation, immigration claims, planning disputes, premium recovery and personal injury claims for both defendants and claimants. In the year ended March 2020 it had revenues of £1.064m.
Frenkel expects “synergies” when the two businesses are combined within Frenkel Topping.
Richard Fraser, CEO of Frenkel Topping, said: “The acquisitions fit exactly into our strategy of acquiring high-quality businesses in the personal injury and clinical negligence market and builds on the successful acquisition and integration of Forths last year.”
The Frenkel Topping group includes Ascencia Investment Management, Obiter Wealth Management, Equatas Accountants and Forth Associates.
