FSCS declares 9 firms in default in 2 months
The FSCS has declared nine financial services firms in default during December and January, including several financial advisers.
The compensation body said that the nine firms had gone out of business which means they were unable to meet any claim themselves.
Firms on the latest list include SIPP provider Rowanmoor and Niche IFA.
Customers with a valid claim against the firms can seek £85,000 in compensation per claim.
The FSCS steps in if a regulated financial firm is no longer trading and cannot pay a customer’s claim. The service is free to customers.
FSCS protection covers money held in bank, building society and credit union accounts. The FSCS also protects clients with who have used regulated firms in insurance, investments, financial and mortgage advice and arranging, debt management and funeral plans.
