HSBC has appointed Ida Liu as CEO of HSBC Private Bank.
She joined HSBC’s private banking and HNW financial advice arm on Monday, having previously been global head of Citi Private Bank where she had spent 18 years.
She brings over 25 years of wealth management and strategic advice experience and at HSBC will focus on strengthening the bank’s relationships with ultra high net worth clients, as well as improving cross-border connectivity.
Ms Liu will report to Barry O’Burme, CEO of HSBC International Wealth and Premier Banking.

Ms Liu began her career in investment banking, advising Fortune 500 companies on mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets strategies. She then transitioned to lead a global luxury fashion business, where she drove operational efficiency and international expansion.
HSBC Private Bank saw its COO depart to become the new CEO of Quilter Cheviot in September, after 28 years with HSBC where he oversaw key developments within the group. Quilter Cheviot is the high net worth division of wealth manager and Financial Planner Quilter.
