IFP Sponsor profile: Dominion
Matthew Deeprose, UK sales director at Global Trends investors Dominion, and two intrepid fellow financial professionals are to trek to the North Pole in April 2013 in a bid to raise £1m for Walking with the Wounded and Mission Motorsport.
In a change to the more traditional IFP sponsor profiles which typically appear on these pages, Dominion has made a break with tradition to draw members attention to this laudable initiative.
The chosen charities support ex-servicemen and women who have been left physically and/or psychologically scared by battle. The funds the team raise will help these individuals to re-train for new careers outside of the services.
The City Endeavour team is made up of Mr Deeprose, Simon Kiley and James Greenly of advisory firm RJL as well as a professional polar guide and a TA officer.
They have been undergoing a gruelling training regime for many months which has involved dragging a tyre around the countryside at the crack of dawn in preparation for the trip, which will see them face 12 to 14 hours of walking each day in temperatures as cold as -45 degrees centigrade as they trek to the North Pole.

Mr Deeprose says that the campaign has a broader purpose beyond the expedition to the pole: "This is very much about a collective effort of our industry to help those who put their lives on the line for us."
Eight corporate sponsors have already signed up to the team; besides Dominion the group is supported by investment firms Aberdeen Asset Management, Artemis, BNY Mellon, Cofunds, F&C, JPMorgan Asset Management, Neptune Investment Management and financial publishers Incisive Media.
The team is still seeking at least two more sponsors from the investment management industry and they are currently in talks with Threadneedle, Skandia and Close Brothers Group.
Support has been offered in many forms, and City Endeavour is in talks with designers Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood to design their underwear and beanie hats.
The project is also receiving support from Captive Minds, the publicists behind Prince Harry's own trip to the North Pole for Walking with the Wounded which he completed in 2011.
