Cross-border Financial Planning specialist Skybound Wealth has appointed former Scotland international footballer Christophe Berra as a private wealth adviser in its athletes and creators division.
Mr Berra gained 41 Scottish caps and was also captain of Edinburgh club Hearts during his 20-year professional career.
The 41-year-old also played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, Dundee and Raith Rovers and, since retiring in 2022, he has completed the UEFA Pro Licence and built experience in coaching. In Financial Planning he has so far gained the CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS).
In his new role he will advise professional athletes, coaches, agents, creators and their families on the decisions they make during and beyond their careers.
Mr Berra joins former professional footballer Jamie Proctor in the Skybound’s athletes and creators division, which was launched in August 2025.
Mr Berra said: “Football gave me an extraordinary career, but it also taught me how quickly circumstances can change. Contracts end, injuries happen, families relocate and retirement arrives much earlier than most people expect. When you are focused on the next match or the next deal, it is easy to delay the decisions that matter most.
“I moved into Financial Planning because I want athletes and creators to have better conversations, earlier. My role is to give clients clarity, protect what they have worked for and build a plan that keeps creating choices long after the final whistle.”
