Investment experts reveal top tips at RSMR London event
More than 100 investment experts flocked to the RSMR In the City event at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall yesterday.
The event saw presentations and panel discussions featuring representatives of top firms, including Fidelity, Aberdeen Standard, Jupiter Asset Management, Goldman Sachs and Schroders.
It was compered by Dominic O’Connell, business presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme and former business editor of the Sunday Times.
Among the sessions, held in the historic mediaeval setting, was a panel discussion where experts gave their “best investment ideas for the remainder of 2019”.
Nick Samouilan, solution strategist, at T. Rowe Price, said his top tip was European equities, he said they represented a good investment despite saying “earnings have troughed and everyone is avoiding it”.
Ross Teverson, head of strategy, emerging markets at Jupiter Asset Management, plumped for two options, firstly the semiconductor space, where he said: “There is going to be growing demand for these industries over time.”
Secondly Mr Teverson tipped African banks, which he said were “exciting in terms of the long term return opportunity”.
Luke Barrs, head of the fundamental equity client portfolio team in EMEA at Goldman Sachs, said India presented many opportunities for investment, and fellow panellist Thaiha Nguyen, investment analyst at Baillie Gifford, said US e-commerce was her best investment idea.
Ken Rayner, joint MD of RSMR, told delegates: “Our investment conferences are now becoming ‘must attend’ events creating additional value from the discussion, debates and networking opportunities and in support of your CPD requirements.”
