Hargreaves Lansdown has praised the “indefatigable” chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, Frank Field MP, as he launched an inquiry into Government plans for pensions.

In the final report of its inquiry into Pension freedom and choice published today, the Work and Pensions Committee has called for a package of measures to create better informed, more engaged pensions savers, and a “default decumulation pathway” to protect the less engaged.

Companies have come under fire from a Parliamentary Committee over plans to close their defined benefit pension schemes. 

The long-awaited ban on pensions cold calling may come into effect this year as early as June after the government committed to legislation to introduce the measure.
