JM Finn backs female Atlantic rowing team
Wealth manager JM Finn is sponsoring an all-female rowing team taking part in an Atlantic crossing challenge - with one of their own investment managers, Laura Langton, taking part.
JM Finn is the lead sponsor of the Ace of Blades, an all-female rowing team taking part in the 2023 Atlantic Challenge later this year.
The team will attempt to cover 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in the Canary Islands and finishing in Antigua, unassisted.
They hope to achieve the crossing in less than 40 days.
The team will be raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, The Outward Bound Trust and Prostate Cymru.
Taking part in the crossing is crew member Laura Langton, an investment manager at JM Finn which has a long tradition of supporting staff in professional and personal endeavours.
The Atlantic Challenge has been described as ‘The World’s Toughest Row’ and the premier event in ocean rowing. It starts from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain and finishes at Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda.
The annual race begins in December with up to 30 teams participating from around the world.
Hugo Bedford, CEO at JM Finn, said: “As a firm, we have a long-standing commitment to investing and supporting the development and progression of our staff, placing great value on their personal progression. We are excited to be supporting Laura in this formidable challenge and delighted to be able to sponsor the team as a whole.”
Ms Langton said: “I am very fortunate and thankful to have such a supportive employer – not just in terms of understanding the time and effort this will take, but also for the encouragement and interest in what I am doing, which has been overwhelming. And for JM Finn to take up the role of lead sponsor makes me even more committed to this challenge.”
JM Finn employs more than 80 investment professionals and manages funds of £10.5bn on behalf of over 18,500 clients. The firm is headquartered in London with regional offices in Bristol, Bury St Edmunds, York and Winchester.
