Manchester claims company loses authorisation
Manchester-based claims management company Match Me Legal (FRN 838981) has had its authorisation revoked by the FCA after it failed to pay the regulator’s fees and levies.
The firm, which has operated under a number of different names, was authorised by the FCA on 3 June 2020 and had Part 4A permission, allowing it to carry out regulated business.
The permission allowed it to conduct regulated activities in relation to claims management, such as personal injury, financial services or financial product claims, housing disrepair, criminal injury and employment related claims.
The FCA cancelled the firm’s permission on 2 August after it failed to pay fees and levies of £589.86 which had been due for payment by 12 October 2023.
The FCA informed the firm in June it would have its authorisation revoked and confirmed that in July when it failed to respond.
On its website, the firm tells potential clients: “We can help with many different sectors of the legal industry from being secretly overcharged on your mortgage to failure to properly advise on your pension, Match Me Legal will find you the right solution!”
It urges people to get in touch about pension mis-selling, with a claim that “that the total figure for mis-sold pensions could be as high as £10 billion.”
It also advises potential clients to check its listing at the FCA Register, when they will be met with the message: “This firm’s authorisation has been revoked by the FCA and/or PRA as a result of enforcement action and they can no longer provide regulated activities and products.
“There has been disciplinary or regulatory action involving this firm.”
The FCA Register also reveals that the firm has traded under two different names since early in 2024, Getmyclaim.com since February and Getmyclaim.co.uk since March.
The latter two firms are digital claims companies offering help with claims for mis-sold car finance or against St James’s Place. In relation to SJP, the site says: “If you're a St. James's Place customer, you could be entitled to significant compensation.”
The site helpfully includes the address of the FCA’s Register where clients will discover that it is no longer authorised to carry out claims work.
The site also has its own Facebook, TikTok and Instagram pages which include videos encouraging people to make claims, although there has been no activity on any of them since April.
In the last four years Match me Legal has also traded under a variety of other names including Trusted Mortgage Claims, Mypensioncheck.co.uk, MyAmigoClaim, MyProvidentClaim, MyGuarantorclaim, MyDisrepair, MyCostlyLoanClaim, PensionAdviceClaim, Tenants Home Repairs, MyPlevinClaim, The IAG, and MyMoneyAdvisory.
There were two individuals associated with the business: Thomas Holland and Nicholas Pickering. Neither retains authorisation or is associated with any other regulated business.
