Organisers reflect on 'best ever' Paraplanners Powwow
Just over a week after this year’s national Paraplanners Powwow organisers have reflected on the event, which saw many new faces and a record number of ‘campfire’ sessions.
The event took place last Wednesday under teepees in rolling countryside at Aynho, Northants.
Now in its sixth year the event was hailed as “the best ever.”
Organiser Richard Allum said: “The sixth National Paraplanners Powwow had a 100% turnout and welcomed over 90 paraplanners to the teepees.
“This year saw more an influx of new faces, which included many new to the Paraplanning profession.
“Chris Hewitt from the FCA tackled a range of issues and questions and dedicated a considerable portion of his ‘Guru’ session to DB transfers.
“The session run by host Aleks Sasin and Quietroom's Joe Craig, on defining Paraplanning, was particularly popular, supported by Ascentric, this campfire gave participants a framework for defining and explaining their role.”
He added: “More Paraplanners than ever before hosted ‘campfires’ and ‘pick and mix’ sessions - 14 in total throughout the day.
“Finally, it was great to see so many supporters take part during the day, fully getting involved in discussions and embracing the way the Powwow Paraplanning community does things.”
Host Caroline Stuart said: “The Powwow has long been my favourite event of the year; not just from a professional event perspective, although I personally think it is.
“It is the best event/day out I go to full-stop and every year it is amazing.
“It's fun, warm and friendly with some of my favourite people in the world and I just love being part of it. “I think this year was particularly good for lots or reasons.
“We have had so many new people come, not just new to the Powwow, but new to Paraplanning generally, which it just brilliant as it shows how much we are growing and developing as a profession.
“The Powwow team who put it on think of every minute detail to make sure that every single participant or ‘Powwower’ as they are known, just has the best experience possible.
“It can be difficult to go to an event on your own, but no one ever seems to be on their own at Powwow; everyone just mucks in together, joining in and getting on with it to try and make things better for our profession, our place and recognition in Financial Planning and ultimately and most importantly, our clients.”
She added: “I say it every year but this was my favourite Powwow ever and I'm already looking forward to Powwow 19.”
