PFS seeks duo in bid to boost advice sector's professionalism
The PFS is seeking two new member directors to help steer the Financial Planning sector “towards higher levels of professionalism”.
Successful candidates will serve on the Personal Finance Society board.
They will help the organisation try to achieve its key aims, with the mission being "to lead the financial advice community towards higher levels of professionalism through a wide programme of activities, including advocacy, guidance, publications and related tools, and training and educational events".
The PFS stated: “The society would ideally like to encourage members who work at medium or large advice firms to apply to ensure that there is knowledge of this sector on the board.
“As the vacancies will arise following the AGM in September, the PFS Nominations Committee is seeking applications from potential candidates who are able to contribute towards the society's objectives. The PFS is committed to helping its members raise the bar by meeting the regulatory challenges and beyond."
The board comprises seven Member Nominated Directors, four Institute Directors and a Lay Director.
The PFS encouraged applications from members from the following “under- represented groups”:
- women
- ethnic minorities
- members with a disability under the Equality Act
- minority faiths or beliefs
- minority sexual orientations
The role involves contributing to the strategic direction of the PFS, holding the management to account and attending approximately six board meetings per year.
Member facing duties include attendance at the annual conference and the AGM and support of the President by representing him at regional meetings and other events.
The applications are open to members of the PFS who have attained Dip PFS or equivalent qualifications.
The closing date for applications is 1 May 2017 and interviews will take place on 27 June 2017.
