A new course focused entirely on special needs and disability planning for financial and legal professionals has been launched by specialist business Senda.
It claims the course is the UK’s first dedicated, cross-disciplinary training programme of its type.
The course is designed for financial advisers working with families of children and vulnerable dependents with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The firm said the course helps equip participants with the core knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely, confidently, and professionally in the complex area.
It focuses specifically on the Financial Planning implications of supporting children and adults with disabilities, or on how SEND shapes long-term decisions across income, assets, benefits, care, and family support over a lifetime.
The course is led by Chartered Financial Planner Rhiannon Gogh, CEO of SENDA.
The course covers:
• SEND-specific challenges and planning needs
• Building trust and asking better questions with SEND families
• Legal and financial pitfalls often missed in traditional advice
• Tools to navigate risks and opportunities in SEND planning
Ali Fanshawe, COO of SENDA, said: “This foundation course builds confidence and competence from the ground up. Typical training often overlooks the specialist skills needed to support SEND families safely — this programme fills that gap.”
The course is available online via the SENDA website, with in-house delivery available for larger firms and organisations.
SENDA said it brings together advisers and organisations who share a commitment to improving outcomes for SEND families. It said it equips professionals - including financial advisers, lawyers, wealth managers, insurers, and advisory networks - with specialist SEND planning knowledge and frameworks to reduce risk and improve outcomes for SEND families.
