Rory Percival: DB transfer event couldn't be more important
Former FCA technical specialist Rory Percival says an event on Defined Benefit pension transfers “couldn't be more important” for advisers.
Mr Percival will speak on the subject, alongside ex-Pensions Minister Steve Webb, Abraham Okusanya, the founder of retirement research firm FinalytiQ and Henry Tapper, founder of Pensions PlayPen, in June.
The Defined Benefit pension transfer discussion day has been organised by adviser Al Rush, who runs Echelon Wealthcare and set up robo-adviser Fiver A Day.
The Financial Conduct Authority has recently announced it will publish a consultation paper on DB to DC pension transfers in an update on the Financial Advice Market Review.
Mr Percival tweeted that it would be “THE DB transfers event of the year” and that for advisers “it couldn't be more topical; it couldn't be more important”.
The event is free.
Mr Rush stated on the event web page: “The business of advising Defined Benefit pension transfers is probably, one of the hottest topics in the world of financial advice at the moment. It is also, potentially, a miss-selling scandal in the making unless you're practicing diligently and correctly.
“Attending this event will increase your understanding and insight into the appropriateness and suitability (or not, as the case may be) behind transferring clients away from a DB pension scheme.
“If you're involved in the advising of DB pension transfers, or want to learn more, frankly, you'd be mad to miss this.”
The event takes place on Monday 19 June from 8.55am to 5.30pm.
The venue is:
