Tilney partners with symphony orchestra in dementia support
Tilney has partnered with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) to support its award-winning work with people living with dementia.
Over the last few years, the orchestra has embedded working with people living with dementia at the heart of its practice.
This was recognised by the Alzheimer’s Society which awarded the BSO ‘Dementia Friendly Organisation of the Year’ in November 2017.
This month BSO musicians worked together with residents and carers across the south west to bring live music into care homes.
The performances were tailored to each home with the musicians taking requests for pieces, evoking fond memories and sometimes emotional responses from the residents, with encouragement for them to sing along or do some gentle movement.
The BSO says it “would not be able to continue its award-winning work without the support from our corporate community; we are therefore very pleased to welcome Tilney, the Financial Planning and investment group, as a new partner.”
Mark Wilkins, Tilney’s managing partner for Financial Planning in the South West, said: “At Tilney our Financial Planners help our clients and their families through periods of disruption, as well as the good times.
“We are delighted to announce our partnership with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to support their work enhancing the lives of the most vulnerable in society, including those living with dementia.”
Through a partnership with the BSO, Tilney is thrilled to be supporting BSO’s work with those in later life care and those living with dementia.
“As a Financial Planning and investment management company, Tilney sees first-hand the emotional and financial consequences of dementia and they are committed not only to supporting families in making sound financial decisions, but also in raising awareness of dementia and working with other organisations that are enhancing the lives of those affected by dementia.”
Alongside supporting the BSO’s dementia-friendly work, Tilney will also be sponsoring an evening of Music at St Giles 2019 and be a VIP sponsor of the BSO’s Proms in the Park 2019.
