The 10th annual World Financial Planning Day will take place on 7 October, the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) - the global standards setting body for the Certified Financial Planner designation - has announced.
It will coincide with World Investor Week, run by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions.
In the UK World Financial Planning Day celebrations and events are run by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI, which provides the CFP designation in the UK. This year the event comes one day before the professional body’s Financial Planning conference.
World Financial Planning Day hopes to leverage the talents and skills of more than 230,000 CFP professionals worldwide by highlighting the pivotal role Financial Planning plays in empowering people to take control of their financial well-being. It aims to raise awareness of the value of working with a Financial Planner, like a CFP professional.
Last year the event reached an estimated global audience of around 231m people through media coverage, financial education events and social media across 22 countries.
Building on that success, the FPSB, based in Denver, USA, said the 2026 campaign would include educational activities across the globe to raise awareness of the value of Financial Planning.
Dante De Gori, CEO of the FPSB, said the campaign was about inspiring people to connect with a Financial Planner to build a roadmap to reach life goals.
He said: “People around the world are facing rising financial pressure and more complex decisions, making Financial Planning more important than ever.
“By aligning World Financial Planning Day with IOSCO’s World Investor Week, we want to help individuals and families take actionable steps to make informed financial decisions, avoid misleading information and protect their financial future.”
Events and programmes for this year will start to be featured on the World Financial Planning Day website in September. https://worldfpday.org/
Financial Planners can join the conversation on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube using the #WFPD2026 and #IOSCOWIW2026 hashtags.
