The Money and Pensions Service has reported that 96% of pension records within the scope of the legislation will be connected to the Pensions Dashboards 'ecosystem' by the 31 October deadline.
Oliver Morley, CEO of MAPS, the government-funded consumer advice service, revealed the figure at the recent Pensions UK annual conference.
He said the achievement was down to a collective effort by industry and Government.
More than 70m pension records are now connected to the Pensions Dashboards ecosystem. The records come from 1,500 pension providers and schemes who have connected, including State Pension data.
Mr Morley confirmed that subsequent connections of pension providers and schemes who have approved deferrals will take in-scope coverage to 100%.
He also urged the pensions industry to double-down on readiness in the run-up to the expected launch of the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard in the financial year 2027/28.
He said it was vital the sector understood fully why dashboards were going to connect to pension providers.
At the same time, he said providers and schemes should ensure they can support the service. He said early signs were encouraging, with directly-connected organisations demonstrating they were achieving high availability. He said it was important to emphasise that connection was not the end of the journey for the sector.
Mr Morley highlighted the increasing pace of testing the MoneyHelper dashboard which will assess performance as demand rises. MAPS has previously shared its findings from phase 1 and early phase 2 outcomes and said it will be providing further updates and research in the coming months.
Mr Morley said: “We have an opportunity to deliver one of the biggest changes to pensions engagement in a generation, and what is likely to be one of the most significant fintech launches on the horizon.
“Working together, we can help millions of people better understand their pensions, reconnect with retirement savings they may have lost track of, and make more informed decisions about their future.”
