The annual inflation rate was at 1.5% in May, meaning it has remained lower than the Bank of England's 2% target for half a year.
The Office for National Statistics announced this morning that the Consumer Prices Index grew by 1.5% in the year to May 2014, down from 1.8% in April.
The Retail Prices Index, which is not counted as a national statistic, grew by 2.4% in the year ending May 2014, down from 2.5% in April.

CPIH grew by 1.4% in the year to May 2014, down from 1.6% in April. RPIJ grew by 1.7%, down from 1.8% in April.
The ONS report said: "Falls in transport services costs, notably air fares, provided the largest contribution to the decrease in the rate."
