Chartered Financial Planning firm expands with takeover
A Chartered Financial Planning Firm has acquired another Financial Planning business to expand its Edinburgh office.
Acumen Financial Planning, also an Accredited firm, has taken over Duckworth Alexander.
Iain Duckworth, a Chartered and Certified Financial Planner with 34 years’ experience, pictured below, right, joins Acumen as part of the deal. He will be based at the Edinburgh office in Torphichen Street.
He said: “It was important to me that when I came to hand on the baton I could do so to a firm who shared the same values in relation to clients.
“Acumen Financial Planning have the same values and taken together with a similar investment philosophy gives me confidence that my clients are in safe hands.”
Acumen, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, has had an office in Edinburgh for 11 years and said that many of its clients there come predominately from within the medical, education and professional sectors, looking for advice on retirement planning, tax planning, savings and investments.
Managing Director Sandy Robertson said: “Iain Duckworth, like ourselves, was an early adopter of holistic Financial Planning and we have known each other for many years having met at various Financial Planning conferences and workshops. So in terms of Professional values, technical know-how and ethics, we are from the same stable.
“We are delighted that Iain chose Acumen Financial Planning as the right home for Duckworth Alexander and its clients. We have been looking to expand our Edinburgh office for some time, patiently waiting for the right opportunity. Acquiring Duckworth Alexander and having Iain join our team there has been worth the wait.”
