CISI and NextGen partner for 'new blood' initiative
The CISI and NextGen Planners are holding a series of Changefest events this autumn to encourage more young people to consider Financial Planning and fintech careers.
Events will be held in Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol in October and November.
Changefest was first held last year and received “fantastic feedback from both planners and young attendees”, the organisers said.
Sally Plant, CISI assistant director, Financial Planning and education development, said: “It is well-documented and discussed that the planning profession is in dire need of more planners, Paraplanners and professionals to ensure that it does not become a service only for the wealthy.”
She said the collaboration with NextGen Planners, “demonstrates our organisations not just discussing but taking the lead and doing something to promote this fantastic career.
“This facilitates our members, peers and the profession allowing them to give a few hours of their time to inform and tangibly make a difference. To create a friendly, open environment for Planners to talk, informally to young people about their experiences is so valuable.”
High profile Financial Planner Warren Shute of Lexington Wealth Management said he received evidence of Changefest’s success after receiving a LinkedIn thank you from young graduate Adam Caswell, on the impact Mr Shute's conversation at the event had made with him.
Adam Owen, director and head of content, NextGen Planners said: “The new regional format will enable us to work with more universities and connect more students and career changers with established personal finance professionals.”
This year the Changefest events will be held in Leeds 10th October, Birmingham 17th October and Bristol 7th November.
