David Norton Building Excellence Award: New winner announced
One of the IFP's most prestigious awards, which is dedicated to a former Chairman and President, has a new winner.
The David Norton Building Excellence Award has been won by last year's runners up Old Mill. The firm managed to hold off competition from Proposito, which came in second place.
Steve Gazzard CFPCM, chief executive of the IFP, said: "Congratulations to 2014 winners Old Mill who have taken a large advisory business and formed a Financial Planning practice with a real focus on professional development, effective client segmentation, and aligning remuneration and rewards with Financial Planning related positive client outcomes."
Launched in 2008, the prestigious award was open to companies seeking to develop into a leading Financial Planning firm.

Mr Gazzard said: "The award is about identifying firms who know Financial Planning is the answer, who have made progress towards their ultimate goal, who accept they are on a journey and appreciate recognition for what they have achieved."
"Despite many first time entries, 2013 runners up Old Mill and Proposito rose to the top of the pile for this prestigious award. They'd worked on feedback from the judges who as in 2013 were Barry Horner CFP, Brett Davidson, and myself.
"The panel were impressed with the propositions and engagement with Financial Planning principles of all applicant firms."
The prizes for the winning firm have a value in excess of £10,000. As well as the trophy and the kudos of winning, the winner will receive:
• 2 days of business mentoring from Brett Davidson, FP Advance
• 1 day of marketing consultancy from Abbie Tanner, A Business Innovation
• 1 day business consultancy from Tracey Underwood CFPCM of Pace Solutions Ltd.
• 1 day social media consultancy from Bridget Greenwood, Financial Social Media UK
• Financial Planner Magazine Profile
Mr Gazzard added: "It's great to see so many high quality financial planning businesses operated by IFP members and we look forward to these firms joining the ranks of our Accredited Financial Planning Firms in the future."
The award recognises the significant contribution to the Financial Planning profession made by David Norton CFPCM, a former Chairman and President of the IFP who was passionate about mentoring others.
