EBI launches investment rebalancing service for advisers
EBI Portfolios, which calls itself the UK's first Turnkey Asset Management Provider (TAMP), has launched a service called Vantage to help advisers streamline investment rebalancing.
EBI says the rebalancing process will control risk within pre-set parameters, generate consistent returns for all clients and give the adviser the opportunity to show added value.
There is also the potential for marginally enhancing returns via use of threshold tolerance bands and lower portfolio turnover, and thus costs, says the company. The Vantage service is underpinned by investment data research spanning a 21 year period and more than a year of software development.
EBI will continually measure the effectiveness of the investment rebalancing process and provide the adviser with data to share with the client – for a charge of 0.10% per annum plus VAT.

Vantage is the brainchild of EBI Portfolios founder Craig Burgess. He said: "The growth of an IFA business can be stunted by lack of resources as client numbers grow. To carry out the necessary rebalancing and fund swaps for each and every client, given the requirement to gain consent and explain the reasons, are time consuming tasks if carried out individually.
"Vantage's drifting templates overcome the conventional case of clients being invested in static portfolio templates and rebalanced at different times of the year, which creates a variety of outcomes for the same portfolio, dependent on the original investment and rebalance date. Each EBI template asset allocation is moved on each day by the previous day's returns. This means all new cash invested by an adviser in a given template is held in the same holdings as all existing portfolios, so when a rebalance occurs it applies to all clients in that template, thus the returns are universal for all clients."
EBI worked with Gobind Daryanani CFP, PhD who carried out extensive research in this area and developed algorithms which he used in his research paper and for market leading rebalancing software product iRebal.
Mr Burgess is a practicing independent financial adviser with some 20 years' experience. In 2011 he set up EBI Portfolios to provide Turnkey Asset Management Provider (TAMP). He holds Certified Financial PlanningCM certification and Chartered Financial Planner status as well as the Investment Management Certificate. He is founder and managing director of Blackstone Wealth Management, a niche practice specialising in working with families.
