Institute of Financial Planning chief executive Nick Cann welcomed delegates to the IFP's first Financial Planning Conference in London today.
The one-day conference is being held at The Brewery in London and is a sell-out session.
It is being attended by over 100 delegates and is the first in a series of technical sessions to be held by the IFP this year in place of its regional conferences. Kicking off the day, Mr Cann welcomed delegates and said how great it was to see so many new faces in the room as well as experienced faces. He also mentioned how impressed he was with the level of the support for the event, particularly as this was the first one the IFP had held, so much so that the event had to be moved to a bigger room to accommodate the number of people wanting to attend. He particularly focused on the importance of Shane Mullins, managing director of Fiscal Engineers, and his campaign to boost trust in financial advice.
Mr Mullins, who will be speaking later on during the conference, is currently promoting a campaign to increase the levels of consumer trust in the financial services sector. Other speakers during the day include Tina Weeks from Serenity Financial Planning, Malcolm Murray from Transact and Robert Lockie from London-based Bloomsbury. The day is sponsored by wrap platform and IFP-sponsor firm Transact. There is also an exhibition room with firms such as Seven Investment Management, Prestwood and Just Retirement exhibiting. Check back later for more stories from the conference.
