London-based Chartered Financial Planner First Wealth has today launched a donor-advised charity fund to establish a framework for the firm’s philanthropy.
It will be known as the First Wealth Foundation, the firm said.
It has been established with the Together Charitable Foundation, an organisation which helps Financial Planning firms set up donor-advised funds. Together will provide the administration and governance to facilitate charitable giving from First Wealth.
First Wealth said it has committed to supporting four charitable organisations through contributions and fundraising each year through its foundation. It said it aims to build long-term relationships and support its chosen partners, not just hand out donations.
In 2026-2027 it said it will support The Global Returns Project, Grief Encounter, FoodCycle and Verve Foundation.
- The Global Returns Project says its mission is: “To unlock new streams of philanthropy that deliver urgent solutions for the climate and nature crises.”
- Grief Encounter is a charity supporting bereaved children & young people. It provides free, professional and specialist bereavement support services.
- Food Cycle says it aims to tackle food waste and hunger by providing free community meals made from food that would have gone to waste.
- Verve Foundation said it’s “on a mission to shake up the industry - championing diversity, closing the advice gap, and proving that finance can actually be a force for good.”
Anthony Villis, managing director and co-founder at First Wealth, said: “Our view is that we have a responsibility to give back, and as a sector, we need to do more.
“In launching our donor-advised fund, we want to inspire other firms to consider their own approach to giving, and move from simply writing a cheque every 12 months to a more integrated, long-term commitment to charitable organisations. In doing so, we can give more and give better.”
Several Financial Planning firms have recently been in the news for their charity activities and donations.
North Wales-based Celtic Financial Planning has launched a free financial education app for youngsters as part of a drive to give back to the local community. The firm has also donated £7,500 to charities, community groups, and grassroots sports.
