In September IFP's Scotland branch welcomed IFP Ethics Committee chairman Andrew Brook Dobson CFPCM and Justin Urquhart Stewart of 7IM as their speakers.
Justin gave an overview on all things financial and demonstrated 7imagine, a useful new app for Planners and Paraplanners to use on phones or tablets to keep up to date.
Andrew proceeded with an ethics workshop session which was valuable both from a personal development perspective and also in terms of gaining structured CPD hours.
Delegates enjoyed a practical discussion around ethical behaviour, including an example from Norman Dalgleish CFPCM around whether it was unethical for a retailer to undercharge him!

While the majority of delegates will feel that they do the right thing by their clients, the focus was that ethics goes beyond this. It's about the need to support the client, to provide the best service and advice possible and highlight to clients potential conflicts of interest.
Scotland branch next meets on 5 December in Glasgow and 12 December in Edinburgh for Christmas drinks. All are welcome!
