In February, the IFP held the first of its new CPD workshops for members with a detailed look at the important area of retirement planning. The programme contained six hours of structured CPD. Mike Morrison of AJ Bell got the programme under way in a technical session which covered a broad range of topics including problems that planners face in practice with clients. Don Fraser CFPCM of Capital Asset Management provided a different perspective, helping planners to consider the emotional impact of preparing for retirement and beyond with their clients. Claire Trott of Suffolk Life then looked at recent changes including the lifetime allowance and considerations around flexible drawdown. {desktop}{/desktop}{mobile}{/mobile} An interactive session in the afternoon was based around a case study designed and led by James Hay Partnership. Members got involved in working on the details and discussing the different issues and options that arose. The next session is the ethics workshop which will be held on April 30.
