iShares creates toolkit to help advisers understand ETFs
iShares has created a toolkit of materials to help advisers working with exchange traded funds.
The firm, a corporate member of the Institute of Financial Planning, is one of the biggest providers of ETFs and has over 600 funds globally.
The toolkit contains advice to help advisers assess ETFs and the role they can play in clients' portfolios as advisers consider new ways to deliver returns for clients.
It includes a detailed guide to ETFs for advisers on issues such as calculating total cost, tax implications and what to look for when selecting an ETF. It also covers strategies to ETF investing to create a diverse portfolio, dispelling common ETF myths and a tailored guide to ETFs for clients.

Pollyanna Rhodes, head of intermediary sales at iShares UK, said: "The introduction of the RDR has undoubtedly increased the interest we've seen in ETFs from financial advisers. There is also now much more awareness of the role that asset allocation plays in generating risk-managed returns, which is leading many investors to look at blending index products with active funds in their portfolios.
"This toolkit is designed to be a comprehensive, yet easy to use, reference guide for advisers which will both increase their expertise of ETFs and better enable them to have conversations with their clients about the benefits of index products."
The guide will be distributed to advisers nationwide and is also available to download from the iShares website.
