Kinder to show planners how mindfulness boosts client skills
Life Planning guru George Kinder is aiming to teach Financial Planners how the military, Google and Apple have embraced mindfulness in the workplace and how it can boost client relationships.
The founder of the Kinder Institute in the USA is running a training course in London on ‘Mindfulness, great listening and great communicating’.
The one-day Art of Inner Listening workshop, costs between £45 and £145 per delegate, depending on membership.
Mr Kinder said attendees would learn what mindfulness is and why it is useful in the business world.
He said the practice enhances self-awareness, enabling people to become “a potent and attentive listener”, potentially benefiting planners in their dealings with clients and “yielding sustainable professional and personal relationships”.
He will discuss how mindfulness training has been embraced across industries, including health, financial services, technology, government, social services, think tanks, law enforcement and the military, including organisations such as Google, Apple, Aetna, Virgin, Madison Wisconsin Police Dept, Congress, and the House of Commons.
Mr Kinder’s web page stated: “Great communication starts with great listening. And great listening starts with an inner listening called mindfulness, a simple practice done 10-20 minutes a day that makes an average communicator into a great one.
“Transform hollow interactions into engaged, dynamic relationships by being present and in the moment. Learn why successful organisations all over the world are bringing mindfulness to the workplace.
“Developing inner awareness leads to productive relationship building, sharpening crucial skills in management, improving sales & operations at successful firms. Win the trust across the spectrum of those you communicate with, from clients to colleagues, employees to senior management, in every interaction.”
He said: “Although there will be lecture and discussion, the class will be largely experiential. Come prepared to practice meditation.”
Attendees are advised, if they have a favourite cushion, bench or chair for meditating, to bring it to the class.
The session takes place at the Psychosynthesis Center, 92-94 Tooley Street, London Bridge, London on 17 June.
