National Financial Planning campaign begins today
Financial Planning will be thrown into the national spotlight from today (Monday 6 June) as a seven-day consumer campaign begins.
Financial Planning Week, originally an IFP initiative, is returning to promote the benefits of Financial Planning to consumers. More than 30 firms have signed up to take part, including Standard Life’s new Financial Planning arm 1825.
The aim is to push Financial Planning into the public spotlight, creating greater awareness of what the profession can do for consumers.

The IFP ran the campaign for seven years before the merger with the CISI in November 2015. The last one took place in November 2014. Firms will be offering free financial advice sessions, which are available for consumers in person, via Skype or over the phone.
Financial Planners will also be holding online question and answer sessions, and speaking to schools across the country about the merits of the profession.
The CISI is running a panel discussion at Cass Business School on Thursday. This will “address the practical aspects of financial planning for millennials and other keys issues”.
Jacqueline Lockie CFP™ Chartered FCSI, deputy head of Financial Planning at the CISI, will chair the panel, which also includes Jason Butler CFP™ Chartered FCSI, author of the Financial Times Guide to Wealth Management.
Sam Whybrow CFP™ Chartered MCSI, a Chartered Financial Planner at Lubbock Fine Wealth Management and Julius Lipner, investment director and Financial Planner, at Equanimity will also attend.
The CISI urged all Financial Planning firms to get behind the initiative to “demonstrate to the nation that flexibility and freedom to a fuller life can be ever closer through true Financial Planning”.
Rebecca Taylor, CFPTM Chartered FCSI, CISI board director, said: “Our aim is to help the UK public draw up their own, personal, financial master plan, incorporating all of life’s milestones, whether that be preparing for retirement, buying a home, being newly-wed, or starting a business. This is something everyone can benefit from, not just the wealthy.”
