The CISI has reported that 80% of candidates passed the latest CISI Level 6 Advanced Financial Planning exam which leads to the UK’s highest Financial Planning certification.

There were 49 successful candidates out of 61 who took their CISI Level 6 Certificate in Advanced Financial Planning narrative exam this spring.

The CISI says it is the largest cohort so far to have sat the new CFP certification pathway. All those who were successful passed on their first sitting.

The CFP exam has been criticised in the past for having a low pass rate. It was run by the Institute of Financial Planning for many years before the IFP merged with the CISI in 2015.

The CISI recently made some radical reforms to the CFP pathway, including raising the highest level from Level 6 to Level 7.

The Level 6 Certificate in Advanced Financial Planning is the first step to achieving the new Level 7 Diploma in Advanced Financial Planning.

The diploma is part of the pathway to the highest global certification available to Financial Planners in the UK, Certified Financial Planner.

CISI head of Financial Planning Jacqueline Lockie CFP, Chartered FCSI, said: “We are delighted to congratulate these candidates who have worked hard to achieve this important step on their CFP journey.

“With 49 out of 61 passing this exam, this demonstrates that, alongside the recent L7 successes, the new CFPTM pathway is achievable. The next step for these individuals is for them to move on to the Level 7 Financial Plan Case Study. We look forward to continuing to support them through the CFP certification process.”

The next Level 6 Advanced Financial Planning exam will be sat on 2 September with the date to register for that sitting 6 July.
