Paraplanner Powwow gains momentum with another event
A movement to bring together Paraplanners to share knowledge and ideas and to advance the profession in the UK is gathering momentum, one of its leading figures says.
Alan Gow, co-owner of Argonaut Paraplanning, said the profession is riding high as he announced the latest in a growing series of Paraplanner Powwows this morning.
He revealed to Financial Planner Online that the second Powwow Down South will take place in London on 13 November.
It comes hot on the heels of the second national event, held last week in Northamptonshire.
He told FPO: "The national event this year was bigger than the last time and we're hoping to have at least as many at the Powwow Down South as the last time in January."
Mr Gow is a co-organiser along with John Redmond of BPH Wealth Management and Nathan Fryer from Plan Works.

He expects the Powwow movement to keep growing, with midlands, north-west and northern events having already taken place.
He said: "I think there will be more and more Powwows, there are new ones popping up as well.
"There's a real momentum gathering, it's growing rapidly. I think there's a real buzz in the profession at the moment partly because of the national Powwow and also because Paraplanners are getting a lot more press and advisers are increasingly realising the value of Paraplanner.
"There's a lot of positive feeling in the profession in general at the moment."
Organisers hope to attract some newcomers to the latest Powwow.
Mr Gow encouraged more to come along, saying: "Parapanning can be quite a solitary job, in particular for someone working in house.
"To spend a day out of the office and speak to peers and find out what they do is a really good way to learn how they can do their job better.
"Its interesting to discuss what challenges we might face, it's a chance to meet your peer group and find out how other people do things, pick up hints and tips, expand knowledge and network.
"These events are a fantastic opportunity to get a feel for what we're doing.
"More people are asking to get involved and there's a very collaborate, working together kind of feel."
After the Powwow ends there will be a chance for network informally.
Taking place on Thursday 13 November, the event will be held at Transact's offices. Tickets will be available in the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, organisers will be asking Paraplanners to vote to pick their preferred time of day to stage it, whether it should be a morning event, a whole day or an evening.
