Members of the Personal Finance Society (PFS) have been offered the use of a new lounge in the offices of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) on Old Broad Street in London.
The lounge opened on Monday and the CII said the space can be used by PFS members “as required.”
The new member’s lounge is named the Caruth Lounge in tribute to Brian Caruth, who served as a Council Member at the Insurance Institute of Northern Ireland for more than 30 years, and as President in 2018-19.
He also served as the Chartered Insurance Institute's Vice President for Local Institutes from October 2023 to the end of 2025.
Mr Caruth, also known as ‘Cookie’, was a well-known and respected financial services professional based in Northern Ireland who died suddenly on 31 December 2025.
Last Friday Mr Caruth’s family visited the new CII offices to mark the official opening of the Caruth Lounge.
Callum Beaton, CII group president, said: “We were delighted that so many members of the Caruth Family were able to join us on Friday, as there can be no finer tribute than to name our members’ area the Caruth Lounge: a lasting tribute to the infectious enthusiasm that Brian brought to everything, immediately allowing him to engage with members in all areas of our profession.”
The CII is the London-based professional body which awards the Chartered Financial Planner designation among other designations. It has 122,000 members. The PFS is the CII’s sister organisation. It has 40,000 members and aims to drive professional standards in the financial advice and associated sectors.
