PFS National Conference moves to Wales
The Personal Finance Society (PFS), the 40,000-member professional body for Chartered Financial Planners, is to hold its 2023 National Conference at the new International Convention Centre near Newport, Wales.
The venue is a stone's throw from the Celtic Manor Resort Hotel which was host to several conferences of the Institute of Financial Planning which merged with the CISI in 2015.
The PFS says the conference promises an “educational and insightful look” into the future of the Financial Planning profession.
The theme of this year’s event will be ‘Duty Bound - Loving Your Clients to Death.’
The one-day event will take place on 2 November and the PFS says it will provide an opportunity for PFS members and others to learn from experts and peers, with over 4 hours of CPD available.
Sessions will cover Financial Planning skills, leadership, business ethics, advice and wealth management, sustainability, diversity and inclusion and technology.
Session titles include:
- A golden age of Financial Planning is upon us
- AI and how we use it
- Tomorrow’s world – shaping the future
- Ace your annual review
- Taming your transactional advice monster
- A guided tour of sustainable, responsible and ESG investments.
The event features keynote speaker Matt Watkinson, an expert on customer experience, plus other speakers including Catherine Morgan, an award-winning Financial Planner and coach.
Other speakers include: Wayne Bishop, Chris Budd, Lee Coates, John Dashfield, Julia Dreblow, Sebastian Elwell, Melissa Kidd, Scott Millar, Rob Schwarz and Fiona Tait.
The event compere will be Chartered Financial Planner Ruth Sturkey FPFS.
Registration is open to PFS members and non-members. Tickets are free for PFS members and £200 (inc VAT) for non-members.
The PFS holds National Conferences in years between its flagship Festival of Financial Planning events, the most of which was held in Birmingham in 2022.
Don MacIntyre, PFS interim CEO, said: “PFS conferences are highly regarded across the profession and we are delighted that this year’s National Conference will provide a terrific opportunity to focus on what the future holds for financial planning, helping attendees to develop the tools to navigate change, and understand how to appeal to the next generation of clients.
"We encourage participation from both PFS members and others across the sector, and look forward to delivering an excellent learning experience, and opportunity for growth.”
