Quilter Cheviot poaches new head of advice from 7IM
Quilter Cheviot, the high net worth division of Quilter, has appointed 7IM’s Colin Rowe as head of advice, subject to regulatory approval.
The firm recently received FCA approval to extend its regulatory permissions to include financial advice.
The change will allow Quilter Cheviot and Quilter Cheviot Financial Planning to operate as a single regulated entity early next year, simplifying the experience for integrated clients.
Mr Rowe will join the business in January and will be a member of Quilter Cheviot's executive committee, reporting to chief executive Andrew McGlone. He will oversee Quilter Cheviot’s UK-based Financial Planning team and support the firm’s multi-channel distribution strategy.
Mr Rowe has more than 20 years experience in leadership roles within wealth management, most recently as managing director at 7IM. Prior to that, he was managing director of private clients at Close Brothers Asset Management.
Michelle Andrews, managing director and executive committee member, will assume a broader distribution role, focusing on the distribution of Quilter Cheviot’s offerings across all channels, including IFA distribution and professional services.
Quilter Cheviot Financial Planning was rebranded from Quilter Private Client Advisers in 2023, after the business merged with Quilter Cheviot in 2021.
Andrew McGlone, chief executive at Quilter Cheviot, said: “The current political and economic backdrop requires investment management and Financial Planning to be working hand in hand with one another. We are committed to achieving this in the best possible way for both our own Financial Planners and also our third-party IFA supporters.
“As we complete the final steps to bring our investment management and financial planning businesses together to make the experience as easy and seamless for clients receiving both advice and investment management, Colin’s experience will be invaluable. He has a huge amount of commercial experience in high-net-worth Financial Planning and investment management.”
Colin Rowe, said: “We want to continue to build and grow the Financial Planning side of the business, while continuing to improve the service we are able to offer our external supporters.”
