Senior figure at IFP member firm gets New Year's Honour
A key senior figure at an IFP corporate member has been named among those on the Queen's New Year's Honours list.
Andrew Brett Milligan, a board member and head of global strategy, at Standard Life Investments, has been handed an OBE for services to innovation and the economy. Parent company Standard Life is a corporate member of the IFP.
Mr Milligan has worked at the Edinburgh based firm for 14 years.
His role at Standard Life involves analysing the major drivers of financial markets and generating research ideas for the absolute return funds.
Anne Helen Richards, chief investment officer at Aberdeen Asset Management, also made the list, receiving a CBE for services to the financial services industry and voluntary service.
The executive board director at Aberdeen has worked in the investment sector for 22 years, including eleven in the current role. She is also a member of the Financial Conduct Authority Practitioner Panel and a director of the Investor Forum.

She was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in 2014.
Among other figures in the financial services sector to receive honours were Elizabeth Corley, chief executive of Allianz Global Investors, and Arbuthnot Banking Group economic adviser Ruth Lea.
Ms Corley has been awarded a CBE as a result of her services to the financial sector.
Ms Lea, formerly director of the Centre for Policy Studies, has been recognised with A CBE for her services to the financial and economic sectors.
Gillian Guy, chief executive officer of the Citizens Advice Bureau, which is taking a key role in the pensions guidance service coming into effect next year, was named a CBE for services to consumers.
Lesley Strathie, executive officer, finance group, at the Department for Work and Pensions was handed an OBE for services to public administration and to young people in north Yorkshire through girlguiding.
In total, 1,164 people have received an award. The Government's facts and figures showed:
• 1,008 candidates have been selected at BEM, MBE and OBE level (292 at BEM, 473 at MBE and 243 at OBE)
• 74% of the recipients are people who have undertaken outstanding work in their communities either in a voluntary or paid capacity
• 6% of the successful candidates come from ethnic minority communities
• There are 579 successful women candidates in the list, representing 50% of the list
• 45% of recommendations for senior awards (CBE and above) are for women, compared to 35% of the senior awards at the 2014 Birthday Honours
