Scottish IFP Conference takes place on Monday
Another key date in the Institute of Financial Planning calendar is set to get underway on Monday.
The IFP Scottish Conference takes place on on Monday and Tuesday at Norton House Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh. Nicola Coates CFPCM, the IFP Scotland Branch chair, from Carbon Financial Partners, will kick off the event. On Tuesday IFP Vice President Alan Dick CFPCM will give a speech to start proceedings.
Highlights of the conference include:
Steve Jenner from Henderson Global Investors - Monday at 2pm - presentation on Meeting expectations.
The IFP said of this presentation: "Many groups say 'the client comes first', but how many put this into practice? Steve will explain what client's should expect in terms of service from the fund management groups with which they invest, and, conversely, what groups need to do to properly understand the needs of their customers. He will explain Henderson's approach with its focus on embedding fair customer outcomes in the business model and building a culture with the client at its core. Three experienced planners will candidly share how they enhance their clients' experience using the six step Financial Planning process. They'll tell it like it is, what's worked for them and what hasn't."
Mark Loosmore from IRESS - Tuesday at 2pm - presentation about the future of advice,
The IFP said: "Advances in technology are creating a new breed of adviser firm, one armed with the tools to successfully engage and service clients like never before. Mark takes a look at what the advisers of the future look like and how they'll engage clients and deliver advice and service."
Alan Gow, co-owner of Argonaut Paraplanning - Tuesday at 3pm - presentation on working with Paraplanners to achieve the best results for your clients
The IFP said: "This session will focus on building and managing the relationship with your Paraplanner. Alan will provide tips and insight on working with a Paraplanner, explaining how to enhance the relationship with the aim of improving not only client outcomes, but also the profitability of your business."

IFP communications director Sue Whitbread said: "This year's Scottish conference has undergone a few changes with a new date, venue and format.
"As in previous years, you can expect a mix of informative and high quality sessions covering issues important to Financial Planning professionals plus plenty of time for networking throughout the two days and the dinner.
"The focus of the programme is on enhancing the client experience. Pick up practical tips and ideas on how you can enhance the client experience from planners, experts and each other.
"Whether you are based in Scotland or further afield, you will be very welcome at what is one of the highlights of the IFP calendar and is renowned for its friendly and open atmosphere."
On Monday a festive dinner, sponsored by Brodies LLP, with guest speaker, Scottish entrepreneur Josh Littlejohn, takes place in the evening. He is the founder of The Scottish Business Awards and has raised circa £1 Million for charity in three years.
On Tuesday the conference and exhibition offers a mix of sessions including:

• Keeping trusts simple - Julie Curtis, Standard Life
• Preparing for retirement - Fraser Grant, The Advice Lab Limited
• Working with Paraplanners to achieve the best results for your clients - Alan Gow, Argonaut Paraplanning
